Momma's Goal # 371

Realize that Heidi Anne will never come inside this summer. I need to give up and just invest heavily in sun block, bug spray, and maybe a tent. How did I get such an outdoorsy kid?
I foresee many nights stargazing, campfire cooking, and little hikes in the near future. However, as for the more adventurous stuff--well that will most likely be a Daddy-Daughter camping / bonding opportunities (while I am at home with the electricity and running water) ;D

Heidi Anne & Kayla's Wedding Fun

Fun, busy weekend! My Dad and Lori were married, since we were part of the wedding party, this are some unofficial pictures taken between the real pictures. (And before my camera died). More pictures to come I am sure! Great thing about weddings-everyone is taking pictures!!
As soon as Kayla saw me the first thing she said was "Where's Heidi?
During the ceremony Rekailah was so good, she stood still and quite right by her Mom. Heidi Anne went with Charles-but then came over to our side of the line, and then decided she liked being the only girl, and went back to her Daddy. (At least she was quite about her indecsion).
Heidi Anne was just adorable, but I must say extra points have to go to my sister and her Kayla. Kayla had her hair in little curls and with the matching dress the girls had Kayla looked like Shirley Temple. After the ceremony the little girls found the funniest place to be was by the back door. I guess for 2 year olds it made perfect sense. It was right by the music, near the wedding line with all the people that were dressed up, close to the kitchen (which was where the goodies and their Mommys were), and soo many people would walk by. Every time someone walked by the girls would stop talking, let the person pass between them, or around them, and then start giggling as soon as the person left. Or they would carry on their conversation where they had left off. A lot of people would ask if they were twins or at least sisters.After a good treat, and Heidi Anne's first soda ever (which is why she is not letting go of the sippy cup-she is in LOVE with the Sprite Lemonade Punch), their wedding day adventure continued. They played by the little water fountain. We got some more family photos done. They just enjoyed playing and running outside together. It's been rainy and snowy so the nice warm sun was wonderful.

And then someone (not sure who-but they were genius) brought out some bubbles. Those two little girls had a ball chasing bubbles, blowing bubbles, popping the bubbles. The fun never stops when those two are together.

Flower Power

A little cute story from Heidi Anne's day care today:
They were making flowers today for a craft. Heidi had ripped her flower up (like a typical two year old). When she saw the flower one of the teachers were making she kept asking for it. So Suesue gave it to her. Heidi Anne took it, got a pair of scissors, and glue, and started pretending to make it. When she was "done" she held it up to everyone and said "Mine". As her teacher said "What's mine is her's right?" ;D
She isn't loved, is she?

Heidi-Anna-Saurus

Heidi Anne has a new favorite game.
She loves to pretend she's a dinosaur. She'll raise up her "claws", she'll sneek up on something (me Char, the kitties or the puppy, the dolls, whatever HeidiAnnaSauras is after), and say "Rooaaarr." This is promptly followed by fits of giggles. Then the game starts all over again.
She makes the cutest little dinosaur ever, even if I do say so myself.

First Full Sentence

Heidi Anne said her first full sentence last night. I was getting ready to get her ready for bed. She kept saying "Dada, Dada". I said, jokingly, "Sorry I'm just not understanding you." Then proceed to pick out some nightclothes. She then looked at me and said in a very clear, sweet, (and might I mention slow) voice "No, I want My Daddy."
It was soo cute. After she said Please first she got her Daddy. What a silly little girl.

Escape From Rainbow Bright Prison

That's what Char said Heidi Anne looked like in this outfit. It wasn't until she was running around did we make the connection.

It was such a fun and busy weekend-2 weeks Ago. We went and did the Art Gallery Walk after work on Friday with Heidi. Twice a year local artists & school children are invited to display their artwork in the stores. The turn out was a lot smaller then it has been in prior years, but Heidi just loved wandering around and seeing new pictures and art work in the normally boring stores.

Last week we took Heidi Anne for a picnic. Which overwhelmed her just a little. She was so excited to be eating, which she loves, and to be outside, which she LOVES even more, at the exact same time.

Hello Kitty!!

Today when we got home from work there was a surprise on our front door. My Aunt Deb sent Heidi Anne an Easter basket. It had some adorable summer shirts, pretty dresses, and pair of jeans.
But the cutest part was when she unwrapped the Hello Kitty my Aunt sent her. Heidi Anne jumped up and down saying "HI Kitty, HI Kitty, MY HI Kitty!!" She just kept cuddling it. I guess Hi Kitty is the same as Hello Kitty to a 20 Month Old. Truth be told I didn't even know she knew what Hello Kitty was! She never ceases to amaze me. Thanks Aunt Deb!! :)

Easter Fun-Part 1

Easter was sooo fun! Sure the weather wasn't to nice, but we did tons of fun things anyways.

For starters the girls painted little flower pots. Kayla was so adorable and detailed with her artwork. After a few brush stokes on her pot, Heidi Anne got side tracked and just had a blast painting her paper plate holding her paint. I must say, it was a very pretty paper plate when she was finished with it.

We then helped the girls decorate their eggs. We had the best idea ever (in my opinion). We did stickers with the plastic eggs.

Rykken's stickers were train and frog themed, it was so adorable even if he was sleeping at the time. The girls had sparkly stars, hearts, and flowers. Kayla loved putting on the stickers, Heidi just loved playing with the sticky part of the sticker.
My sister picked out their Easter outfits, they are so bright and cheery! She picked theirs last year as well. She's got a knack for these things, especially when it comes to coordinating the girls.

They then had fun with their baskets, which had their names on them. Kayla loved digging in the "grass" with her new shovel. She made it look like so much fun Heidi had to try it out too.
They got seeds, bubbles (which Heidi loves), coloring books, bubbles, a little doll, and a little pony.

Momma's Goal # 366

Get As Much Use of Halloween Outfits as Possible-Whatever the Holiday....

So a few days ago I was going though some of Heidi Anne's clothes and I found a Bunny costume, which during Halloween it was to big for her. Well now it fits just right!

So she got to dress up as the Easter Bunny!! Thank you surprise hand-me-downs!! You can sure make a nasty snowy Easter Day turn out to be the best!

Momma's Goal # 356 & # 357

# 356--Sticking with my Lent project and # 375 Let sleeping toddlers lie.

#356--I have 1 week left. My goal was to not swear at all. I realized I've let a few words slip here and there. However, it became obviously clear one morning in the beginning of February when I spilled some milk. I then cursed under my breath. It was promptly followed by Heidi Anne looking up at me and saying "Elll?" Then wandering around the house chanting the new funny word, of "Ell, Ell, Ell".

#375--Let sleeping toddlers lie. Night Clothes for Children are not required every single night, especially if they've already fallen asleep. Sometimes those brown ruffled pants and the pink jacket are more comfy to a toddler then the footie pajamas. As long as their clean--why disrupt them?

The Adventures of Hunter and Heidi Anne

So here are some of the little Heidi Anne adventures for the week:

Hunter got a cute puppy cut--He's super cute now!!!

At preschool she was a dinosaur, she kept going around "roaring" at everyone and even pretended to have claws. She reenacted it for us later that evening, while brushing her teeth she went around the house with a foamy toothpaste mouth saying "Roar".

Heidi started dancing to the music, then realized that her dancing was making a little baby laugh, so she kept dancing for the baby even after the music stopped.

Heidi has a new game, she likes to take pictures of people, but if you try to get one of her, she says Cheese and then runs away before you can get a shot. Sneaky, Sneaky girl.

Heidi is now telling us when its her bed time. We have a night time routine in place now, so when she and Char get in the rocking chair, she starts to say "Nigh" "Night" and will point to her bed. We put her down, tuck her in, and out she goes.

Momma's Goal # 324

Morning Prep--Start the day off in clean clothing, free of obvious signs of staining, and no tares or holes. Teeth brushed and Hair combed. (Bonus points given if hair styled any more then that). Feeding when time allows for it. This goal can apply to all ages, as the tale details below:

Heidi Anne likes to help pick her clothes for the day now. This morning I had a pink shirt and green pants set out for her. She chose a different pink shirt, a different shade of pink pants, with another shade of pink sox's.
Yesterday the outfit was a pair of jeans and a shirt. She decided it would be a green shirt, purple pants, and a stripped jacket. When we headed out for the day she insisted on wearing her other jacket as well. So she went to preschool with 2 jackets on and a purple coat in tow.

Not The Only One

I'm not the only one with a sense of humor when it comes to parenthood. My sister has the same attitude. As the dialogue below so artfully illustrates: "Kailah sweetie that's toothpaste, not lotion. It goes on your toothbrush please stop rubbing on your arms." She's an awesome Mom!

I Can't Hear You.....

So I have come down with a case of laryngitis during which Heidi Anne has become quite the copy cat. I would tell her "Say Please", but thanks to the laryngitis hardly a whisper could come out. Heidi Anne would mimic me, right down to the barely audible tone. Then Char would tell her "Say Please" and she would then respond in her normal voice. It really made a unique spin to losing my voice. Poor Char had to strain to hear whatever I or Heidi Anne were saying all weekend.

Heidi has a new favorite game, she LOVES Ring Around the Rosie's, mainly the "We all fall down" part. She will even skip right to that part of the song. Her friends will tell her, "No Heidi, you have to dance first." So she will dance a little, she'll let us get to "Pockets full of Poises" and then yell "DOWN!!" And she'll plop right down in a mass of giggles and saying "Again! Again!"

I'm having fun with London Bridge is Falling Down with her, every "Down" she flops to the floor and hurries to stand back up so she can just fall down again.

Heidi Notes

Heidi's daycare and the teachers, they do the sweetest things, for example they do her hair. They also give us a daily report, of what she had to eat, when and how long she napped, and a cute little story of the day. So I've decided to start writing down some of these cute stories. Here are a few pictures of her hair this week:
Heidi loved music time! She would dance and jump around when the song was playing. As soon as the music stopped she would stand and wait for the next song. She would also bob her head up and down and spin around. She did it so much she made herself dizzy and almost feel over. Then she would start laughing at herself.

Heidi loved being in the bouncer today, As soon as she got out she would put her baby doll in, and bounced it for the baby. She wanted the baby to experiance the fun like she had!

We went outside for a few minutes this morning. By the time the other kids were freezing and ready to go in Heidi was still wanting to stay outside and play. Even when she was the only one left outside, she kept saying "No" when she was told it was time to go in. (She loves to play outside).

Heidi played shoe store today. She went to the shoe cubby and tried on all the other girls shoes. She would take out a pair, put them on, walk a few steps, and then put them back away. She did this for almost 20 minutes.

I Wish I Had Jessie's Girl....

I randomly heard this song on the radio and had a flash back...
SO almost a life time ago, when I was 15 / 16 ish, my sister had gone to visit our Grandparents.
My dad was going to pick her up from the airport from a red eye flight, so 10:30 she would be landing. My cousin and I really wanted to go with him to pick her up, and Bekah really wanted to see Lizzie. We were told No, it would be to late, we'd just sleep the whole way, ect. (I think the honest truth was the thought of 3 teenage girls for 2 hours in a car in the middle of the night just wasn't appealing.)
Somehow our cousin Lizzie convinced my dad at the last minute for us to come with him to pick Bekah up. It was a pretty uneventful drive, until we got near the airport. I Wish I had Jessie's Girl came on the radio, we rolled the windows down, and Lizzie and I just scream / singed at the song at the top of our lungs at 10 at night.
I think the best part was when we went to the gate to pick up Bekah (this was pre 9/11). Liz went off to the side, so my Dad and I were there waiting for Bekah. She looked happy to see us, we gathered her things, started to head out, and then some "rude" girl bumped into her. Oh my gosh how Bekah screamed (in the teen girl--oh my gosh my BFF is here) fashion. The whole ride home was nothing but singing off key on purpose, giggling, and talking.
It just struck me how a song I hadn't heard in nearly 10 years brought back all those fun little memories, and I just couldn't stop smiling, and humming the song.
P.S It has also been brought to my attention I am pretty much the only one who still calls Rebekah "Bekah", old habits die hard I guess.

Facebook Tag

I saw this Tag on Facebook and thought, why not do it real fast.

"To celebrate Valentine's Day change your profile picture to you and your spouse and tell us how long you two have been together."

So I changed it to this picture of us, Heidi was about 3-4 weeks old. (Can you tell how sleep deprived we look? Can you believe how tiny she used to be?). We've been together since August 2001. Started out as friends and have been together ever since.

Chocolate Friday

A little info on where we work. It can get to be very stressful, we get very close to our co-workers / friends, we tend to do potlucks and other fun things. Oh did I mention we really go all out for holidays and farewells. Unlike most places, the farewells are on happy notes, normally its because someone or their spouse graduated at the University.
On Friday we celebrated Valentine's Day and a going away party, so of course we had to up the anty. We did a chocolate fountain party! It was sooo fun, Char and I brought our fountain. A few girls melted the chocolate at their home. The rest was just good old fashion potluck, there was fruit, pretzels, animal crackers, gummy candies, if it could be dipped in chocolate it was. (Someone even had chocolate covered pizza--and No, it wasn't a pregnant woman). Some people wanted to know why I didn't bring it sooner, the thought just never crossed my mind and no one had ever asked.We are definitely doing this again!

Spaghetti Fun

Tonight we had spaghetti for dinner, nothing new or special, except for one little thing...Heidi learned that playing with your food can be fun. Lots and Lots of fun. Since it was a bath night tonight anyways, we just let her go for it.
Normally she is a very clean and proper eater. Tonight, she started out using her fork, blowing on the food to cool it down. Well, somewhere along the way she found that if you use a fork and your fingers you can eat even more! She just chowed down, saying "Yummy" and "More" the whole time. My personal favorite was when she finished, she licked her fingers clean and said, "Done!'
